With threatening skies in the forecast for Saturday, Drum Corps International is saving a weekend washout with the SoundSport International Music & Food Festival presented by Motif Music beginning at 11 a.m. in downtown Indianapolis.

Originally scheduled to take place along Downtown Indy’s Georgia Street, both the SoundSport® competition and DrumLine Battle™ events will move the thunder indoors to the Pavilion at Pan Am Plaza (SoundSport) and the Indiana Convention Center Hall A (DrumLine Battle).

“For the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all of our fans and our performers, and because of the incredible facilities and resources afforded by the City of Indianapolis, we’re very pleased to have this indoor backup plan to ensure that the show goes on,” DCI Director of Marketing Robert Jacobs said.

Thousands of music enthusiasts from around the world will converge for the high-energy contests featuring ensembles from across the globe. All events are free and open to the public.

The SoundSport Championship in the Pavilion at Pan Am will feature 16 instrumental music ensembles competing for the 2016 world title with stage lighting and video screens giving a 360-degree view of the action. SoundSport showcases ensembles of various ages, sizes, and instrumentations.
