The 2017 Drum Corps UK summer season continues on Sunday, July 16th at Safron Lane Athletics Stadium in Leicester.

2017 marks the first time this competition will host a DrumLine Battle match-up. Designed to open up a new avenue to participation in the Drum Corps activity, Drum Corps International’s DrumLine Battle program aims to encourage new and re-emerging ensembles to participate in marching percussion through a fast paced and in-your-face competition. Units can be from alumni corps, small drum corps or even from colleges/schools – whatever you can dream up. There are no age restrictions and each DrumLine Battle unit consists of just 5 or more members. Simply put together two 1:30 – 2:00 minute performance routines and you’re on your way to successful participation!

“DCUK was re-launched in 2008 and at that time we saw the membership increase however over the past 2 to 3 years there has been a slight reduction in the number of Corps taking an active role and across the activity there has been a general decline in competing units year on year…” said Alan Thompson on behalf of DCUK, “…and so bringing SoundSport® [and DrumLine Battle] into the range of opportunities we can offer performing groups, specifically with the support and backup that DCI provide, is part of a medium to long term strategy to ensure we can secure our future”.
