Description

The River City Drum Corp, founded in 1993 by Edward White, is a group of children and young adults between the ages of 5 and 18 who have been trained in African and traditional western percussive techniques, as well as the richness of African culture.

The organization works to provide its members with a blueprint for success in life. Each young drummer will make his or her own drum; using materials found in the environment, and learn the skills needed for personal, academic, and social success.

The Drum Corp’s overall success is grounded in the commitment from the participants, Their families and the program volunteers to function as one unit – a true extended family.

We are cultural ambassadors for the City of Louisville and the State of Kentucky. We have performed all over the state, from Hopkinsville to Hazard.

Through our activities we have helped our alumni earn over $100K in scholarship funding for their post-secondary education. We host the annual Da’Ville Classic Drumline Showcase as part of the Kentucky Derby Festival.

The River City Drum Corps Marching Drumline is marching unit performing various cadences in the styles of traditional western Corp style rhythms and the show band styles of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
