DrumLine Battle Premieres in Guatemala

Just one week after leaving the Emerald Isles, the streets of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala will echo with percussion as DrumLine Battle Guatemala, the first official DrumLine Battle event in Latin America, kicks off on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

This historic event will be held in the Parque a Centro América, a broad central plaza in Guatemala’s second largest city. First designed in the 1800’s with additions spanning the last 100 years, the plaza provides a scenic backdrop for an afternoon of up close and energetic performances.

Parque a Centroamerica will host the first official DrumLine Battle in Guatemala.

The competitive lineup will be drawn at 12:00pm CST on Saturday, giving ensembles two and a half hours to make their final preparations before the first battle begins.

Each of these ensembles will be fresh off of their SoundSport debut at SoundSport Guatemala, also located in Quetzaltenango on Friday, September 11th.

DrumLine Battle Guatemala is operated by Drum Corps Guatemala. Founded in 2015, this nongovernmental organization is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of the arts which they operate in Guatemala through annual activities to benefit children and youth. Drum Corps Guatemala works with many major bodies launched in Latin America who promote artistic, educational and organizational development of musical ensembles.
